Seniors are Unresolved in Finances
Senior citizens are unresolved, in transition, in process in many areas – physical, mental, social, spiritual, emotional, and financial. In this writing, we are going to focus on the financial struggles that many seniors have to endure.
Many men and women work hard to establish a career. They work their way up the corporate ladder, then realize there is a financial drop-off. Sure, they knew they weren’t going to retire at full pay, but were they ready for the change in income? Some are, but many are not. Savings may help, but it is still an adjustment.
And then there are those that never made it to the top of that corporate ladder, or are kicked off before they even have a chance to finish that journey, sometimes through no fault of their own. They and their dependents rely on that income, limited as it may be. Finances for many senior citizens are stretched and sometimes broken.
But there is hope. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I cling to two verses during these confusing financial times. Philippians 4:19 says that “God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” In another verse, we are reassured that “all things work together for good for them that love the Lord and are called according to His purposes.”
While finances may be unstable and not totally reliable, at least for some of us, we can have the security that no matter what happens, God will see us through and will provide all of our needs. Do you have this security? You can, if you surrender your finances, and every area of your life, to Jesus Christ. Finances may not be secure, but those of us in Christ are. Let’s cling to that.
Blessings,
Pastor John
